TotalSnacc launched from a standing start and took six figures in month one.

01 The challenge

TotalSnacc make Indian namkeen that is roasted rather than fried. The protein and fibre go on the front of the pack instead of hidden on the back. For a category built on small type, that is an unusual amount of confidence. The recipes were settled and the founder knew exactly what the product was.

Everything else was missing, including anywhere to buy it.

There was no customer list, no audience and no shelf history to borrow trust from. A launch like this has no returning visitors to lean on. Every order in the first month has to be won from a stranger who has never heard the name.

The obvious plan is to build a store and buy traffic to it. The difficulty is what happens when that traffic lands. Every snack on the shelf claims to be healthy, and shoppers have stopped reading those claims at all. The argument has to be won on the first screen, before anyone reads a word.

02 Our approach

UX

Almost every visitor arrives on a phone, so the first screen has to carry the whole argument. That meant deciding what a shopper checks first and refusing to bury it. Ingredients come before flavour, because a first-time buyer is deciding whether to trust the food before deciding whether to like it.

Technical

Six weeks meant every decision was made once. Branding, photography and the store were built in parallel, which only works if the platform is doing standard work in a standard way. So the build stayed light on purpose. There is no page builder, no theme app loading on every page, and nothing that the first screen does not use.

Conversion

A launch store usually opens with a discount overlay, because there is nothing else to say yet. We left it out. A brand whose whole argument is what is inside cannot open by competing on price. A first-week code also teaches a new customer to wait for the next one. A sampler pack does that job without the damage.

03 Design & UX

The identity is built around the two figures a shopper checks: protein and fibre per serving, set large on the front, with roasted, never fried as the line beneath.

The store repeats the pack in the same order, so a shopper who meets one recognises the other. On a phone the product page opens with the pack, the two figures and the ingredient list. That list is short enough to read without tapping. Flavour, serving suggestions and the rest of the range sit below, where curiosity rather than doubt takes over.

Numbers, not adjectives

Protein and fibre per serving are set large on the pack and on the page. A figure can be held against the packet beside it. A claim cannot.

Nothing behind an accordion

A collapsed panel is where a shopper assumes the inconvenient ingredient has been put, so the full list stays open on the page.

A sampler at launch, not a code

At launch the trial offer needed no code at all, so a first-time buyer never hunted for a discount or felt they had missed one.

The line under the numbers

Roasted, never fried sits beneath the protein and fibre figures, so the number does the convincing and the phrase does the remembering.

04 Development & technical implementation

The store runs on Shopify with a theme written in Liquid rather than assembled in a page builder. Nutrition data sits in metafields, so protein and fibre render in the same position on every product without being retyped. When a figure changes, it changes in one place. That mattered more than expected during the build.

The copy was written before the final nutrition panel was signed off, because the schedule left no room to wait. Two product pages had to be rewritten when the fibre figures changed. That is the cost of running branding, photography and development in parallel, and it was the right trade against launching late.

Shopify Functions run the sampler and bundle pricing inside the cart, which keeps the offer out of the discount field entirely. Klaviyo captures the email at the point of interest and runs the welcome sequence a new brand needs. GA4 and Hotjar were live from the first day of trading.

05Key solutions

Key solutions.

The parts of the build a visitor would point at.

  1. 01

    Nutrition on the front

Protein and fibre per serving lead the pack and the product page.

  2. 02

    Ingredients in the open

The full list sits on the page with nothing collapsed, which removes the suspicion a hidden panel creates in a category nobody trusts.

  3. 03

Sampler instead of a code at launch

A small trial pack carries the risk for a first-time buyer without teaching the customer to wait for the next discount.

  4. 04

    Built for a phone

Almost all traffic is mobile, so the first screen carries the whole argument and loads before a shopper decides to leave.

  5. 05

    Email from the first order

Klaviyo collects the customer at the point of interest, which gives a brand with no list something to build on immediately.

  6. 06

    One source for the panel

Nutrition figures live in structured fields, so a change to a recipe updates every page it appears on rather than most of them.

What changed after launch.

6 figures

Revenue, month one

The store took six figures in revenue in month one, from no customer list and no existing audience. On a launch that is not a conversion story, because there was nothing to convert from. It means the argument on the first screen did work that most brands only get after years of goodwill.

<2s

Page load

Pages load in under 2 seconds. On an Indian mobile connection that is the difference between a paid click and a wasted one, and a launch pays for almost every click it gets. Speed on a new store is not a refinement. It is the first thing standing between the advert and the argument.

The pack and the store now make the same argument in the same order.

A shopper who meets the brand on a shelf recognises it online, and the reverse holds too. For a business with no history, that consistency is the only thing doing the work a reputation would normally do.
